A few quick notes on marketing!

So you are just getting started and the major question at hand is “How do I get the jobs I want”. Obviously you need to have a portfolio that represents the type of work you want to get paid for but how to use that portfolio is another story. A few major things to think about when developing a marketing plan are as follows.

1. What do I want my marketing to achieve?
2. What is my business identity?
3. Who is the target audience for your marketing?
4. What are there biggest needs?
5. What type of media will I use to deliver my marketing?

Once you have thought about these questions and put down on paper your answers to them in a structured format you are ready to develop a marketing calendar. The calendar will take into account your budget for marketing and layout a strict plan for implementing your plan. When I develop my own marketing calendars I include the media I will be using the date I will use it and the costs associated with it. Remember to stay consistent to your business identity and your client’s needs with your marketing. You don’t want to be sending different message in your emails and print campaigns then you are giving on your web site.
